Senior BJP leader and former J-K Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta responded to Mehbooba Mufti's tweet on Rishi Sunak, an Indian-origin MP, becoming the next UK prime minister and said she is trying to drum up support of the majority community in Kashmir to stay relevant in politics.
"Mehbooba Mufti has lost it. I want to ask her why do terrorists come from only one religion? Will she answer this? BJP believes in justice for all, appeasement for none," Kavinder Gupta said, adding that The PDP leader is defaming the nation with her comments.
On Monday, Mehbooba Mufti celebrated Rishi Sunak's elevation to the UK top post with a tweet that said, "Proud moment that UK will have its first Indian-origin PM. While all of India rightly celebrates, it would serve us well to remember that while UK has accepted an ethnic minority member as its PM, we are still shackled by divisive and discriminatory laws like NRC & CAA."
Responding to her 'minorities' remark, senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad asked Mufti will she accept a minority as CM in Jammu and Kashmir.
He tweeted, "Saw Mahbooba Mufti’s tweet commenting on the rights of minorities in India after the election of Rishi Sunak as PM of UK. Mehbooba Mufti J! Will you accept a minority in Jammu and Kashmir as Chief Minister of the state? Please be frank enough to reply."
